5 Signs It’s Time to Partner with a Warehouse Staffing Agency
Posted on 02/28 by Erin Helms
If you’re having trouble keeping your warehouse fully staffed, you are not alone. Warehouses across the country are facing quite a few staffing challenges, from a tight labor market to seasonal shifts in demand. Fortunately, you don’t have to handle your hiring needs on your own. Here are five signs that it’s time to partner with a local warehouse staffing company.
High Turnover is Disrupting Operations
Employee turnover is expensive, as it forces your company to absorb a variety of hiring-related costs. But beyond that, high turnover is tough on your remaining team members. They’ll have to work harder to cover the open roles. This can cause morale to sink and put everyone at higher risk for burnout. Maintaining full productivity and efficiency in a high turnover environment can be nearly impossible, potentially throwing your operations into shambles.
How a Warehouse Staffing Company Helps
There are three key ways that warehouse staffing agencies can help improve your employee retention: • Focusing on fit: Just because someone looks good on paper doesn’t mean they will fit in well at your company. Workers who are a good cultural fit are more likely to feel engaged and loyal, ultimately staying with you for a longer time. That’s why we work hard to make smart matches between employees and companies. • Offering temporary help: Whenever a role is open, your existing team members will feel the pressure. Warehouse temp agencies can send over short-term contract workers within just a few days, taking the pressure off your team. • Providing employee development programs: Everyone wants to learn and grow. We offer employee development programs to help keep your team members moving forward without leaving your company.
Seasonal Demand is Overwhelming Your Workforce
Seasonal dips and surges in demand are a normal part of warehouse operations. For example, you might be busiest during the holiday shopping season, with another spike at harvest time. But in between those peak seasons, things can get incredibly slow. You likely need extra help during times of high demand, but finding, recruiting, and hiring them is time-consuming and expensive…only to do it all over again during your next seasonal surge.
How a Warehouse Staffing Company Helps
Temporary warehouse staffing can help solve the issue of seasonal demand. Just tell us: • How many people you need • Whether you are looking for any specialized skills • How long you want your temp employees to stay We can generally provide you with highly qualified, fully screened and vetted temporary workers with just a few days of lead time. They will remain on our payroll, saving you the costs of onboarding. When their contracts expire, they will move on to their next assignment. In addition, we can help solve other short-term staffing issues. Are you opening a new warehouse? Expanding the types of goods you handle? You might not know exactly how many new permanent employees you need or what skillsets to look for. In these and other cases, temp-to-hire may be just what you need. We’ll send temporary workers as usual, but their contracts will include an option to convert. At the end of the contract period, if you and your employee agree, we will help you onboard them as a new full-time member. If not, you are free to part ways when the contract expires.
You’re Struggling to Find Qualified Warehouse Workers
One of the biggest challenges that many warehouses face is an ongoing labor shortage. The overall unemployment rate is low, meaning that there simply aren’t that many people looking for jobs. But beyond that, warehouses also face a rapidly aging workforce. Baby Boomers are retiring, and many Gen Z employees aren’t considering warehouse work. They may not see it as a stable career choice, or they simply might not have had much exposure to the possibilities.
How a Warehouse Staffing Company Helps
Warehouse staffing companies are deeply familiar with the labor shortages in this industry, and we have been working on the situation for some time. We have developed several important steps to help solve this challenging issue: • Education and awareness building: We work hard to build awareness among students and newer members of the workforce. Our educational outreach helps them understand the benefits of a warehouse career. This allows us to develop a constantly replenished pipeline of talented candidates, ensuring that talent will be available for years and even decades to come. • Making the most of our industry roots: We have extensive experience in the warehouse industry, which brings a deep understanding of what is required for success. We also know how to connect with strong candidates, as well as how to position your company to attract and retain top talent.
Your Hiring Process Is Taking too Long
One thing that complicates hiring for many warehouses is the lack of a dedicated hiring team. This can cause the hiring process to move extremely slowly, as those who are in charge of staffing also have numerous other responsibilities. Unfortunately, this can cause you to miss out on top candidates. Thanks to the ongoing labor shortage, you are competing with other warehouses for the same small pool of workers.
How a Warehouse Staffing Company Helps
For warehouse staffing companies, recruiting is our core business. We’ve put a lot of work into streamlining our processes, allowing us to move candidates through far more quickly than most companies can manage on their own. Yet we never sacrifice quality. Every step of the way, we screen and vet candidates to ensure that they not only have the skills and experience you need, but are also the right cultural fit.
Compliance and Workplace Safety Are Becoming a Concern
Compliance is an ongoing challenge. Regulations can change rapidly, and the penalties for noncompliance can be severe. In addition, warehouses can be highly dangerous workplaces if ongoing safety training isn’t provided. With so much going on at once, though, it can be tough to keep up with the latest rules and best practices, and communicate them to your team in a timely manner.

Summer 2026 Event Staffing: Coverage When It Counts in Six Host Cities
Match Week 2026 is heading to Kansas City, Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, and Seattle — and if you run a hotel, a venue, a facility, or an event-services company in one of those cities, the headline isn't the matches. It's the squeeze. When hundreds of thousands of visitors land in a single market over a few weeks, every operation that touches them feels it at once. Front desks get slammed. Banquet floors run short. Parking lots, loading docks, and event corridors need bodies that didn't exist on the schedule last year. And the labor pool you normally pull from? It's getting recruited away by everyone else trying to staff the same surge. This is the part most operators underestimate. The crowds are predictable. The labor gap that comes with them is what catches teams flat-footed.

The April employment report delivered a stronger-than-expected signal for employers: growth is happening, but companies still need flexibility to keep pace. According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, overall nonfarm employment increased in April, with the economy adding 115,000 jobs. That number came in well above the expected median forecast of 65,000 jobs, according to a Bloomberg survey of economists. Temporary staffing also moved in a positive direction. U.S. temporary employment rose by 7,900 jobs, reaching 2.5 million temporary jobs in April. While temporary employment remains below its March 2022 peak of nearly 3.2 million, the latest numbers suggest that staffing activity is beginning to firm up. Staffing Industry Analysts Economist Michael Schultz described the April results as “surprisingly strong,” adding that “this is the first time since last summer where a strong month was not immediately followed by a weak month.” For companies evaluating their workforce plans, that matters.
